I have two adolescent sons, and since buying the sofa, they have been spending more time on the sofa in the living room rather than staying in their own rooms. My dog is still wary of it and won't get on the sofa, so I don't know about the scratching yet.

It was bigger than it looked in the store when I put it in my living room. It's very comfortable to sit on. My dog is also happy to sleep on it.
